This critically-acclaimed production chronicles the friendship between Jim Burden and a young Bohemian woman named Antonia as it blossoms in the windswept prairies of the American Midwest in their small town of Black Hawk, Nebraska. This award-winning adaptation of a favorite American novel by Willa Cather has captured hearts and minds across the Midwest
“A Common Thread”, written by local author, Debi Neville; is a true mystery that begins in Denmark in the 1880’s and winds its way through Austin, and Spring Valley in the late 1950’s. A bittersweet story of a mother’s sacrifice and lost siblings, is drawn from the Nelson family history. Weaving scenes from the past, together with recollections of family picnics at the farm, the show is filled with comedy and drama; bringing all the emotions of a lifetime to the stage. Several characters are portrayed by actual family members including Bree Walker, James Shatek and Sherrill Schottler.
Neville was awarded a McKnight Foundation Individual Artist Grant for the writing of the play which will premiere at the Paramount. Original music by Maria Kujawa.
